Chhaupadi

Chhaupadi, the most and miserable religious disease that is followed strictly in the western part of Nepal, where it is the religious beliefs. Chhaupadi, where the women and girls when they have menstruation period are placed in a cowshed or in some other place, where no one other is allowed to enter.  During the period those girls and ladies are considered as impure and untouchable. They lost their own dignity and they are compelled to stay in a cowshed surrounds with dung and dirty surrounding. Those girls or women with their period are considered as impure and they are not allowed to touch any plants and they cannot enter to their house until they are out of their period. In early days even they are not followed by the men’s in the same path, they need to leave the walking areas for male in the society.

We are rich in tradition and culture by birth; we are the followers and path finders of our beliefs and rituals. None of we are free from our duties and responsibility, we all are bounded in a culture. Only the religion is super power that bounds us from escaping and that promotes peace and love. No any religion is against peace and love all have the destination to peace and love , Our pride is our culture and beliefs, knowing all these we sometimes ignore our beliefs and values as they are more rigid and that may causes long term effects on our society. Some time we human beings creates problem within self and more focused to the religion.  There are many such ritual and cultural beliefs in our society which we need to change and modified too. Some of them are the major cause of violence to our living structure.

Chhaupadi is just the one example of the society where women are more violated; this is just a single reflection of the society where women are considered as the animals or some other goods during their periods. They are not allowed to enter to their bedrooms and even they are restricted to enter to the kitchen and temples. They are supposed as the “so called lower caste” people.  This is the religious and cultural beliefs which have been deeply rooted in our society. These sorts of the religious beliefs are needed to be changed and we need to eliminate these kinds of religious violence. Religious and beliefs are needed to be followed for the development and to obtain peace and love if they are against to the peace and harmony and if they promotes violence and if they brings conflict and destruction to our society we need to discourage them and should strongly banded them. Government should be more responsible towards this issues and the rules and laws should be strongly followed.
